“Bond King” Bill Gross, who rose to fame and spent the majority of his career at investment firm Pimco, turns 80 in a couple of weeks and is mostly happily retired in southern California.
He has more money than he can spend at an estimated $1.7 billion, but it is important to keep one’s mind active and to pursue old hobbies. One of his happens to be betting heavily when the odds are with him and against “the house.” Gross was given the opportunity to do that by a billionaire two years his junior from sunny southern Florida.
